On June, 1st 2011, CARENA started. This four-year EU-funded collaborative project will create
technologies for an efficient conversion of light alkanes and CO2 into higher value chemicals.
CARENA promotes catalytic membrane reactors in the European chemical industry to reduce the
dependency of the European community on imported oil.

Breck Award for our partner Jürgen Caro
J. Caro, Professor of physical chemistry at Leibniz University Hannover received along with Professor Michael Tsapatsis, University of Minnesota, USA, the Breck Award of the International Zeolite Association.
The Breck Award is sponsored by Union Carbide Corporation (UCC) and named after Donald W. Breck who was a former leading scientist of UCC. The Breck Award is administered by the International Zeolite Association, and it is given every three years for the most significant contribution to Molecular Sieve Science and Technology made in the last 3 years.
Caro and Tsapatsis obtained the prize on the Moscow International Zeolite Conference in July 2013 in the presence of almost thousand participants for their pioneering work on novel molecular sieve membranes.
